February Prayer Gathering

2/13/2020

Over thirty residents of Whitley County gathered together this morning for their inaugural City Movement prayer gathering, hosted by Lead with Faith Whitley County. Six months in the making, this day arrived sooner than anticipated – and on a snow day.

Mid 2019, Columbia City resident Jeremy Swonger, attended a prayer gathering in Fort Wayne, led by Parkview Health CEO Mike Packnett. Attendance to Allen County’s monthly prayer meeting has been increasing since the gathering’s inception in 2018. During Jeremy’s first prayer gathering visit, he was moved to ask the question, “How can we do this in Whitley County?
After a conversation with Mike, Jeremy met with Columbia City Mayor Ryan Daniel, who was supportive of bringing together residents of Whitley County for prayer, with the hope of every man, woman and child being positively impacted by the Gospel. Mayor Daniel suggested Jeremy connect with other intercessors in the county.

For over fifty years, if not more, Whitley County has been covered in prayer by intercessors faithfully

meeting across the county in various locations, the Whitley County chapter of National Day of Prayer, various churches, folks burdened for their neighbors, and via prayer walks at the heart of Whitley County – the courthouse. We believe today’s gathering is the culmination of years of prayer, and trust collectively joining forces on a monthly basis will provide direction on living out, and being led by, faith in our day to day lives and interactions with those we cross paths with every day in Whitley County.

Now connected to the intercessors of Whitley County, Jeremy and Mike hosted a luncheon for the Ministerial Association of Whitley County, to share the vision of saturating Whitley County with the Gospel. Over fifty individuals joined for this gathering in January 2020. Jeremy initially hoped to kick-off monthly prayer gatherings in April 2020. However, the enthusiasm and momentum built during the luncheon inspired the Lead with Faith Whitley County leadership team to trust for what seemed like an outstanding goal.

When we trust God for an outstanding goal, outstanding things happen! Meeting this morning with so many in Whitley County passionate for their neighbors, just four weeks since the luncheon, enthusiasm for the movement has grown even more. It was an honor to gather with several folks to meet for prayer. The demonstrated tenacity of the folks in today's prayer gathering, is a testament to the passion the citizens of Whitley County have for the men, women and children of Whitley County.
We witnessed Whitley County residence led by faith, demonstrated through the power of unified prayer
For a moment, imagine if you will, the Gospel transforming your life, the lives of those you love, your neighbors, community and county. Be encouraged to sit with this thought for a moment. What might be your next opportunity to be led by faith? Do you see it? Be encouraged to take that step, however big or small, and trust something outstanding is about to happen in your life and for the Kingdom. Perhaps your next step is joining us next month?
